Sorted alphabetically by place name, the order does not represent a rating.
Since there are frequent changes, we have mostly refrained from specifying prices and opening times or dates for free driving, please refer to the respective homepages.
The list is of course far from complete.
If anyone has further recommendations, links, tips, additions, we would be happy to receive any feedback!
39649 Gardelegen, Peckfitz
34 hectare former training area for the GDR border troops. Many water crossings possible, but everything can also be avoided. Mostly sand and forest floor.
Diagonal driving, steep uphill and downhill descents, overcoming obstacles on the "playground", on the rock/stone section and much more.
Marked circuit for “racing drivers”. :D
Very nice, varied terrain!
Both the camp areas including sanitary facilities, as well as the hotel and the catering are highly recommended.
Dates and further information:
23936 Grevesmühlen

No personal experience. Maybe someone has already been there and can provide us with information. Thanks!
03197 Jänschwalde, MSZ-Lausitz
Former NVA training area, 54 hectares, very spacious, mostly sand and forest floor. Paved water passage, well suited for practice. Two circuits with different levels of difficulty and several open spaces. It's always fun to drive there.
However, you should not set too high standards when it comes to the accommodation that can be booked, the catering facilities and the sanitary facilities.
19294 Karenz, off-road leisure camp
On 15 hectares there are various challenges such as a large sandpit, routed routes in mixed forest, long inclines
> 30%, interlocking and embankment routes and much more.
Open mostly Saturday and Sunday, dates on the homepage.
Camping is possible on site (also with a power connection).
Thanks to Tom for the tip!
34593 Knüllwald, Bad Wolf
Opencast mining site, 70 hectares. A wide variety of surfaces: forest areas with many obstacles, clay and sand pits, basalt quarries, water holes, steep ascents and descents. Varied terrain, but not as forgiving of driving errors as Weeze or Jänschwalde.
74653 Künzelsau, Adventure Steinbruch
15 hectares - bookable for clubs, organizers, etc.
As far as I could see, free driving only once a month on Saturday mornings, registration/booking required.
Small area, but offers a lot for a few hours of fun. Interlocking passages, water crossings (depending on the weather), long steep stretches, hills of different heights...
Refuge with coffee machine, toilets etc. - very well maintained and powerful high-pressure cleaner.
Many thanks to Hannes H. for the informatio
91799 Langenaltheim, Offroadpark LA
10 hectares of a partially disused quarry. Steep ascents and descents, twisting passages, water crossings, mud passages
Apart from the muddy areas, everything is very rocky, sometimes with very sharp edges. Beautiful circuit and always challenging.
As with the Böser Wolf, inexperienced drivers are more likely to cause damage than in the forest and sandy terrain.
49716 Meppen, Funpark
- 2.8 hectares of forest course and 6 hectares of sand area
- We haven't been there yet, according to friends it's ok to play a little for half a day, but no more.
- More information would be welcome
53520 Müllenbach
The site can be booked by the hour, half day or day. There is also the opportunity for those who are not yet off-roaders to get to know the fun with a rental jeep.
Meanwhile (from 2020) there is also regular free driving. Advance registration due to limited number of vehicles! Small but very fine and challenging terrain.
Further information and off-road events can also be found at Offroadwerk
37627 Stadtoldendorf, Freizeitpark Mammut
Beautiful, approx. 130 hectare former Bundeswehr training area with many predominantly muddy challenges. You have to have been there and if you have been there in the right weather, then even after years you will still find remnants of the typical mammoth mud in all possible corners of the vehicle. The on-site restaurants are also highly recommended!
Overnight stays: Camping on site or accommodation in the nearby former barracks possible.
47652 Weeze
Terrain is only complete for e.g. E.g. off-road organizers and associations/clubs can be booked. Small but very beautiful forest area that doesn't get boring even after over a dozen visits.
