Liros D-Steel recovery rope - rigid recovery rope made of Dyneema - custom-made

I ordered the Liros D-Steel recovery rope with a length of 5 m and a breaking load of 17.5 t from Liros for vehicles weighing up to 5.8 t .

For fastening I recommend 2x Liros off-road soft shackle with 20 t BL.

My opinion

I have been enthusiastic about the Liros mountain ropes for years! Very good quality and very versatile. With the exception of tree straps, I retired all recovery straps years ago. A Dyneema rope requires less space and weighs less than a comparable recovery harness.

Except for recovery/towing in 5 m length it can be used:

  • for load distribution on two lifting eyes
  • for lateral securing in case of danger of slipping/tipping over
  • to build an anchor point for winching
  • Towing in the area of the StVO (additionally a red flag or similar in the middle is required, we tie a safety vest on it)

Another advantage: it doesn't soak up water and mud like the belts do.

Rigid recovery harnesses/recovery ropes

A recovery strap or recovery rope can be used to extend a winch extension strap that is too short or to recover a vehicle that is stuck off-road. If it is foreseeable that the vehicle could get stuck when driving through water or mud, it makes sense to attach a rescue rope/belt to the rescue eye of the vehicle beforehand so that in the event of an emergency, a rope or a rope is not left in or under water Having to attach a belt. Ideally, the rope/belt can then be thrown to the rescue partner without leaving the vehicle. When using a rigid recovery belt/rope, jerky loads must be avoided at all costs in order to avoid damage to the vehicles or the rope/belt. Particularly on normal road vehicles, the towing eyes are not designed for jerky loads and can tear out or deform the frame.
If a vehicle cannot be towed free with a normal recovery rope/belt, a kinetic belt or a kinetic rope may be possible be used for recovery. Attention: Do not attach kinetic ropes or straps to standard towing eyes!

To attach the recovery straps and ropes with eyes, additional shackles or soft shackles are required to attach them to the vehicle, except for the Liros Offroad Performance thanks to the firmly spliced soft shackles.
